Sam Lunde, owner of Tidewater Tavern, is a fourth generation Californian from Santa Barbara County. Sam settled in Solana Beach in 1984 to help a friend open Kona grill at the south end of Solana Beach. During some down time brought on by a fire at The Kona, Sam found a Chinese restaurant for sale. With money he borrowed from loyal customers he created the Tidewater Tavern in 1994.
Signature items like Grilled fish Tacos, Calamari and MaiTais still remain. Through three remodels, he’s changed with the times, yet proudly remains true to the vision he thought of over two decades ago – create a Classic Southern California Beach Bar.
